We are trying to adapt to our new world, and the challenges with Cubit 19. Now, we have a new tool to help keep families and friends connected with those who find themselves temporarily behind bars — our new remote video visitation system. First, go to www.videovisitanywhere.com and request access to visit an inmate at the Hennepin County Jail. Sheriff's staff will review the request and see if you're an approved visitor. Once approved, using a smartphone computer or tablet, download the Secures app from the app store or Google Play. After you've signed up, you can schedule a remote visit the request needs to be made at least 24 hours in advance. Inmates at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center are allowed four people on their visitor list every day. Inmates can check the list at one of the visitation terminals inside their housing unit to see if they have a visitor for the day. There, they'll see the time and date of the visit. Once the date and time arrives, visitors can simply click on join session, and they'll be connected each inmate is allowed a 20-minute remote visit from a friend or family member. Visitation hours are seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Visitors will need to pay four dollars for each 20-minute session.
